Blinded we hold hands

By Aussie

Blinded we hold hands …
Walking toward eternity.
The road slopes gently;
We hardly know we’re there.

With painted face, despair
Sits waiting, calmly watching;
We laugh, the empty pleasure fades.
The taunting death mock wails;
We plug our ears and smile–
There’s nothing man should fear.

Our memories fixed on pleasant pasts,
The present can’t be here;
And, forward goes our steady step
We do not wish to care …
