Dreading Heaven?

Angels strumming harps, white fluffy clouds swirling around, lots of lazy days . . . who really, in their right mind, wants to spend eternity in total boredom? Isn’t it funny how our expectations of heaven can sometimes make us lose interest in eternity? We might even be so bored we forget to share the important message of the gospel with our loved ones.

Yet, who really pictured heaven like that to begin with? It sure isn’t in my Bible. Satan likes to intentionally deceive us into thinking incorrectly about heaven. Rev. 13:6 reads: “And he opened his mouth in blasphemies against God, to blaspheme His name and His tabernacle, that is, those who dwell in heaven.” The dragon and his beast here are attacking God (which is understandable because He’s the one they’re rebelling against), but they’re also verbally attacking the believers and heaven itself. Think Satan has some points to gain by discouraging a believer about his permanent home? You bet!
