Pictures of Perfection

Chapter Four

Mackie had left and Juliet finally had time to open the envelope that had fallen out of her locker. She slid the envelope with the letter opener and her gaze fell to the red colored paper.

The threat frightened her and she wanted to call Derrick to ask if he could have it analyzed or run through one of his labs. (Not only was he a computer technician, but also a forensic specialist.)

And what should she not get involved in? What was Cat up to? And who could put the note in her locker? Her locker had no openings, other than through the combination lock.

Too many questions were running through her mind, she was dizzy. Reaching for her phone, she called Derrick.

“Hey, Derrick!” Juliet whimpered.

“Juliet what’s wrong?” he asked with a tone of worry.

“Can you come over? And bring your fingerprint kit or whatever kit is used to find fingerprint!!”

“Sure, Jules, is everything okay?”

“I will tell you everything and anything I know when you get here.”

“Alright Jules, I’m on my way.”

Juliet hung up and started to pace around her room without thinking. Her mind in panic and her heart was beating extremely fast. Why would someone threaten her? And what would Cat do to be murdered?

Her mind turned to the conversation she had with Mackie earlier about Cat.

~ Flashback~

“I don’t think that Cat committed suicide, I think she was murdered.” Mackie said with a wince.

“How do you know?”. Shock appeared on Juliet’s face.

“I rather not tell you, in fear of getting in trouble with the government, and also my dad soooooo…..let’s not mention where I got it.”

“Your dad’s office? Oh, yeah that could be true considering he is the judge and gets most cases.”
“Anyways I found the pictures and I don’t think she would have done that to herself!!!”

“Yes, because you would have known that, cause you have seen her around all the time.” Her voice had an accusing tone; there was a tad bit of hurt too. How could he possibly known what they were going through, when he became Mr. Popular.

“Unless she turned extremely depressed, then she would have done that.”

“Even if she was, she wouldn’t have shown it, she was happy her last days.”

“I’m sorry, I have to go. And Juliet?”

“You have no reason to be mad at me for what happened. And don’t blame me for what happened to cat. Just be careful.”

~End of Flashback~

What did Mackie mean by that? Why should she be careful? Maybe Derrick would have some answers; he was due at her house any minute. Sighing she laid down, her head resting on her silk covered pillow. She closed her eyes to think, but a silent deep slumber overcame her. And she faded away into the evening.
