Fairy Tale

Life is like a fairy tale
How it ends, no one knows
We even have a narrator
His name is God, our Creator

We have different chapters
All of them begin and end
Sometimes we can put the book down
With others we race ahead

In this tale we choose our characters
Not our family, but our friends
We choose the way the story is told
And also how it ends

We choose whether to believe
In the narrators voice
We ourselves choose
Between Hell or streets of gold

Our fairy tale has romance
And the trials that come within
They also have plot and suspense
We can decide to win

Although our story is different
From other fairy tales
In the end we don’t always win
In fact, we sometimes fail

But the narrator gave us choice
To how our tale turns out
We can end it differently
Than those filled with doubt

So live your fairy tale carefully
And keep the audience close
Listen for the narrator’s voice
And erase all your woes

Battle of the Spirit

The drums of war are sounding
The warriors prepare to fight
Our purpose is to defeat the enemy
It’s time to fight

Our hands begin to clap
Our mouths begin to chant
I can feel my chest grow heavy
My breathing turns into gasps

My knees begin to weaken
I drop onto the floor
I am marching into the battle
My prayers are my sword

Slashing at the enemy
I shield myself with light
I yell out among the voices
We will not lose this fight

My face is covered with tears
My mouth is moving non-stop
The heaviness is starting to fade
I breathe relief as it lifts off

I feel a peace come over me
Slowly I stand on my feet
I have defeated my demon
I open my mouth and sing

I watch the others around me
As they continue to fight
I sing and worship God
As the battle rages on

I feel the enemy weaken
We cheer as they turn and flee
We are Jesus Christ’s army
In us he lives and reigns

The battle has finished for now
But the war has just begun
We are standing strong
Our generation has won
