Addiction
Day after day,
night after night.
I can’t get away,
there’s no chance of flight.
It’s there,
always there.
Never ceasing,
ever increasing.
It’s on my mind,
it’s in my head.
It makes me blind,
spiritually dead.
It calls to me,
forever calling me.
I can’t resist,
I’ll just call it quits.
No more fighting,
I give in.
I fell for your baiting,
I lose, you win.
Then I see a light,
A shining light.
From it comes a voice,
giving me a choice.
I knows it’s the key,
the key to my salvation.
All I need do is agree,
and from sin take eternal vacation.
Over my shoulder a glance I cast,
a look at the wickedness in my past.
Then back to the light I turn,
and sin I no longer yearn.
Scales fall from my eyes,
I can finally see.
I leap into the skies,
I am free, forever free.
My first poem. I know, some of the wording is a bit awkward. It's a true story.
