Kiss of Lies

He promised me the world
as he ran his finger across my lips
He said that I'd be his
the world over
As he brought his lips to mine

He promised me the sun
as he smiled and made it rain
He held me tight
and made me feel
That it was worth it all

But now I stand
with tears pooled all around
Looking with shock
at the double lines
on my home pregnancy test

It's been two months
I haven't seen him since
Some say he moved
far from here
maybe two hundred miles away

Why did I waste my life
Giving him all I had
The precious inner part of me
Gone to the dogs
 in a moment of passion

I'm not ready to be a mom
My mom will kill me I know
How will I break the news
about the foolish choice
 I've made

Maybe I'll run away
and leave this all behind
Maybe I'll just wake up
and realize it's all a dream
I'll pinch myself now

Why?

Why do people leave when we need them the most?
Why do people leave just when we get that small spark of hope?
Hearts grow weary and eyes become teary.
Dark around, dark inside,
I never thought that it could be her time to die.

So, why do people leave when we need them the most,
Why do people leave just when we get that small spark of hope.
Perhaps its because it's not about us, but they,
And because Heaven couldn't wait another day.
So all we can do is hope that they're in a better place,
Living among God's amazing grace.

A Teaspoon of Love

he said it softly
he said it sweetly
played with my hair
twist it into a knot

he said it was forever
he said it last eternally
he kissed me lightly
and gave me that smile

but now I'm crying
and now I'm pregnant
and where is he
who once showered me with love

was he just joking
or did he really love me
maybe it was just
a teaspoon of love
