Brokenness

If tears could tell a story,
They would know mine all too well,
For many nights I’ve cried a-sleep
Too many now to tell.
 
They say you should be broken,
For God to have His way.
Well many nights I’ve told Him,
“Lord, please, just go away!”
 
“I don’t want your amazing testimony,
For it’s one that shan’t be told.
I’m sick of being molded,
I’m tired of this mold.”
 
“I know my trials are tiny,
and easier to bear,
But Lord, I’m JUST a child,
Somehow it doesn’t seem fair!”
 
Despite the things I’ve told Him
when all I do is cry,
He answers –
“Be patient child, I will soon reveal why.”
 
I’m still trying to be angry
I’ve said ‘I’ve had enough’
But now I see it’s not my choice,
No matter how painful, hard or tough.
 
I’ve told Him that it’s over,
that I’m not going to stay.
But He answers me, so quietly –
“My child, you’ll understand one day.”
 
And though the wait is painful,
living life from day to day,
as hard as I try to deny it,
He always makes a way.
 
 At times I have been angry.
More than ever before.
But God wants us to be broken,
so He can use us more.
 
And when I say I’ve had enough,
And feel I can’t go on,
He says – “My child, just look to Me,
And I’ll make you strong.”
 
I know my story’s not finished,
This poem is but halfway through
But someday I’ll know the reasons
And I’ll know what He says is true.
 
I know there’s more to come,
My heart I have set,
There’s many a trial ahead of me
For I’m not broken yet.

Tears Don't Have a Sense of Right or Wrong

As the tears fall down my eyes like rain,
I try not to think of the feelings I have mixed up,
especially the pain.

It is hard to be a teenager,
can't anybody understand?
Each day it grows harder
and I'm hanging by one hand.

But I can't give up
because I know I am strong,
but don't let my tears trick you -

because tears don't have a sense of right or wrong.....
