Child of the Fallen
A dark night
A child is born
The happy occasion overshadowed by great loss
The loss of a father
A man honorable proud to die for his country
Unable to see his greatest accomplishment in light
In the flesh
Able only to watch his baby from the heavens hoping that the stories and the photographs will be enough
He knows it won't be
Comforted when he sees his grieving widow with one piece
One reminder of him in her life
He sees the joy in her-the maternal instinct that somehow she can make it without him in time
Living for their child
Honoring his name and hoping that through her his only son will know not only the courage of the purple heat and the flag on his mother's lap
He will come to know the man behind the uniform
The history
The story of the blood running through his vein
The other half of the love that gave him life
