Open the Blind Eyes

"Open the blind eyes,
Unlock the deaf ears.
Touch this generation
That's crying out in desperation.

Open the blind eyes.
This generation is losing,
Losing sight of a desp'rate nation.
Open the blind eyes.
Let this desp'rate nation
Catch sight of your love,
Catch sight of your salvation.

Unlock the deaf ears.
This generation's forgotten,
Forgotten the cry of a desp'rate nation.
Unlock the deaf ears.
Let this desp'rate nation
Hear of your wisdom,
Hear of your great salvation.

Touch this generation,
We're blind and deaf and crying out in desperation.
Touch this generation.
We are part of that desp'rate nation.
Show us your love.
Teach us your wisdom.
Give us your great and holy salvation.

Open the blind eyes.
Unlock the deaf ears.
Touch this generation,
That's crying out in desperation."

Okay, so I was a church this past Sunday and the choir began to sing a song called "Hear us from Heaven." Well, these lines from the chorus(Open the blind eyes. Unlock the deaf ears....Touch this generation...Crying out in desperation) just kept playing over and over in my head. When I got to think about it, why should this just refer to literal blind and deaf people. I was thinking that most of our generation is blind to the suffering in other parts of the world, and that we also need to let God just grant us his vision so that we can see his creation the way he see them. We are all quick to judge someone, but until we truly see them the way God sees them, we will never be able to justly judge someone.

I also was thinking how we need to block out all negativity and derogatory remarks about our faith and just listen to God. I mean, how many of just sit and listen to God. If you think that  God won't speak to you, you are so wrong. Maybe, he is just waiting for you to shut your mouth so he can speak.

And finally, our generation is in a desperate state and we need step up and save it from going to hell. But, God is the only one who can cause that change. We don't use God to make a change, he uses us.

Sorry, I just didn't know if the poem would make any sense if I didn't explain why I wrote it. Well, God bless.
