A story by Star
“Happy 13th birthday Sam” I sat there glumly listening to Evanescence on my c.d. player. As my favorite song ‘Sweet Sacrifice’ ended, I got up and left. I went for a walk listening to ‘Bring Me to Life’.
“Ow!” I bumped into a tall 14 year old. “Hey! Watch…” I started to yell but stopped short.
“Watch what?” I looked at him. He was a little taller than I was with black hair, baby blue eyes, and freckles.
“Sorry I thought you were this jerk guy from the orphanage.” I said coldly
“If he’s from the orphanage than he must have a reason for being like that. Don’t judge him unless you know what he’s been through.”
I held back the tears. “DON’T TELL ME I DON’T KNOW WHAT HE’S BEEN THROUGH!” I turned around and ran off.
“Hey, Wait! Come Back!” He started to run after me. I fell on my knees as I finally let the tears out that I had been holding in for 9 years.
Soon he had caught up. He grabbed my shoulder “Hey! Are you okay?”
I looked back at him with wide eyes “You… You came after me?”
He smiled and wiped away my tears. “Yeah. I was worried about you.”
I looked at him in shock. “Huh? You were worried?”
He laughed, “Of course I was. It’s not everyday I get to meet I girl who runs off crying after only a few sentences.”
I smiled “You know what?” I sat up and smiled
“What?”
“It’s kinda nice having somebody that actually cares about me.”
He looked at me and laughed. “My names Matthew. Matthew Allen”
“My names Samantha”
