"No-o-o-o!" Floricia screamed, lunging at Lord Dyrant's eyes.
Dyrant lost his balance and let go of King Jauhn. King Jauhn grabbed Floricia and escaped away from Dyrant. Floricia tore away from her father, running to the rescue of Greyith. When the Black Knight holding Greyith saw the princess running straight at him, with rage burning in her eyes, he quickly released Greyith and darted away.
As the Royal Guards fought the Black Knights, Lord Dyrant rolled over to the edge of the cliff. Standing up, he shouted to all, "It's over with. I never should have trusted anyone."
Two Royal Guards ran over to Dyrant. "Give it up!" they demanded, trying to grab him.
"You'll never take me a-l--i---v----e," Dyrant's last words turned into a wailing screech of terror that echoed off the sheer cliffs as his body plummetted to the rocky bottom of the canyon.
Several days later, after all of the rebellious Black Knights had been rounded up and any puzzles concerning Lord Dyrant's plan had been solved, King Jauhn invited his subjects, including Greyith, to a royal banquet.
At the banquet, King Jauhn stood up and addressed those present:
"My trustworthy subjects, the evil previously bestowed upon the Royal House of Saachenland has been defeated. The wicked plot of a certain Lord Dyrant has been revealed and suppressed. Those Black Knights disloyal to the King have been unmercifuly executed. The thief who stole the palace treasures--a Black Knight, by the way--has been indicted. And," the King paused, looking proudly at Greyith, "the man--though unjustly punished--who risked his life to save mine own is now rewarded.
"I, King of Saachenland, hereby present in the presence of my loyal and trustworthy subjects, my future son-in-law, Lord Greyith, leader of those loyal Black Knights, who under him will continue to preserve and promote the welfare of our citizens."
Round after round of applause was given to Greyith. Those near him heartily pounded him on the back. he winced in pain, but was otherwise glad that what he had fought so hard for, had finally been accomplished.
Princess Floricia, sitting beside Lord Greyith, announced, "We plan to be wed as soon as the arrangements are completed." She turned around and smiled at her fiance, and then faced the audience again. "Remember, now, that someday this hero who saved my father's life and the crown will then be king himself."
The King's subjects applauded again, standing up to show their sincere appreciation and gratitude for all that Lord Greyith had done. Then, as if on cue, they all shouted in unison:
"Long live Lord Greyith, the future Saachenland King!"
