The Truth Behind the Lie, an original story by Aurcara

At her house she kneeled over and try to catch her breathe. “These people are crazy! What sort of person forgives you for everything!?!… Oh what’s wrong with my life!” She dropped to the floor and cried her heart out. She didn’t understand. Why would someone, that is, God, be so ‘cruel’ and place humans on Earth only to take away their lives? Why does this God so loving take away people’s lives? She didn’t understand, she couldn’t get her head around it. In fact she was beginning to feel ill herself. But in all the kafuffle of the day she remembered, it’s not the thoughts making her sick, though she kind of wished that. It was a simple factor that you’ve got to eat.

So she headed into the kitchen. That kitchen she can no longer stand. She reached into the cupboard and pulled out a can of Heinz tomato soup… her Mothers favourite kind. A tear welled up in her eye when she came to actually eating it then before she could put the spoon into her hungry mouth it fell. There was a small splash, she looked down and she saw a heart. Within the soup a heart had formed. But she convinced herself, it was just a coincidence.

After finishing and washing up, she headed into the lounge. She picked up the small silver remote and turned the TV on. The first words she heard were, “She loved you, you know that.” In shock she jumped up in her seat and promptly changed the channel away from the well-known soap, then on the next channel she shockingly heard. “So go back to the church, I’m sure the pastor will explain things to you.” She switched off the TV.

“What?!?” Confused she tried to explain things to herself, “Heck, they’re just shows, petty shows, it’s entirely coincidence that’s all. ‘She loved you, you know that. So go back to church, I’m sure the pastor will explain things to you?’ they don’t even join up!” She snorted and with a slight twitch in her hand, turned the TV back on, to yet another channel, to her horror though to words of, “These people’s why of life may seem odd. But as you can see they’re still ordinary people.” After that she turned off the TV for good. “Now that… that was a documentary, can’t have meant anything…right?”

She rushed upstairs and turned in for the night. Was she going psychologically insane? When sleep came over her, then the dreams came.

A person? She looked up. A person stood in front of he that very same person. “Who?” She asked. But they swiftly turned. “Wait!” She yelled. Intrigued. She watched their shadow walk. She began to walk towards them, but she ran quite soon after, in hope this time she’d catch up. She was desperate to catch up with this stranger. But like before fog swirled around her. It thickened the deeper she ran. There was something about this person, something she had to know. But she couldn’t get to him .Who in the world was he? The world slowed down. She beat at the fog but it taunted her. But before the end, before the environment took its last swing she heard a voice. “Do not worry my child, soon you will know the truth!” The only thing she knew was this was not the man speaking.

The following morning she had a quick breakfast before hopping out the door. She had to go back to that church, get things into perspective. Along the same route she went. When she arrived she smiled at the warming sight of the church. She walked through the doors and there in front of her was the pastor, he turned around to face her.

“Well, welcome back!” He smiled kindly, “It’s nice to see you back.”
