For a while after, she stayed and they talked. They talked for hours. Questions came into her head, but not on how flippin’ crazy she thought these people were. But on how she had looked through what these people believe and the real reason what keeps them going.
After awhile she looked up and through the window. It was dark. She turned and looked at the large clock, 20:36. “Drat! Oh man, look Peter I’m sorry but I’ve got to go, it’s far too late and I’ve got quite a walk home!” She got up and headed towards the door, but he stopped her and put a hand on her shoulder.
“Look, if you’d like I can drive you home. Don’t worry I have passed my test recently and I know these roads like the back of my hand.”
She smiled.
“If that’s ok, I don’t want to be a hassle.”
“No none at all, anyway my Dad doesn’t expect me back anytime soon. I usually go for a walk in the evenings, it’ll be nice to have a change.” He said as he led her out to his small, old white car with a tad bit of rust on it. “It’s nothing fancy.”
She laughed, “Hey it’s a car isn’t it?!”
She was home in no time and waved him goodbye.
A few weeks went by, she visited the church as often as she could during the week to get answers and unfortunately had been persuaded to resume going to school. The first month came, as well as the bills. But she was lucky enough have a good donation from an anonymous person from the church to pay the bills, since she had refused to move... yet. But there was no way she could let people help her like this. So she hoped something better would come up. But she would have to start looking for something once she had finished her exams which were only weeks away.
She looked at her watch as Peter pulled up at her house. As usual he came into her house and had a bible study, sort of thing with her. Really he was explaining what things meant. This was when she had her revelation. The signs she had had, the TV and the walk, meeting Peter and his Dad. Things just made sense. How could there not be a God. If she looks around she sees his work. How the heck could a few random rocks and chemicals make Earth as alive and living as it is today? For once in her life she didn’t want science to answer her questions, she wanted God. She wanted to be part of a plan that, even though would be bumpy, would be so incredible in the end. How much more her life would be filled if she had a reason to live. She didn’t want to live for the sake of living. She wanted to live for the sack of helping. For the sake of serving. Because who are you, if you just do what your mind wants? What good is it to do the world if you just lead your own life and ignore others? How much better and happy would it be if you helped others and actually gave something, no matter how small to the world?
“I want to do this.” She said turning to Peter.
“Do what?” He asked hoping that she meant what he thought she meant.
“I wanted to repent. To help others. To serve God and take Jesus as my Saviour.” She said her smile growing by the second.
He gave a broad smile.
“Would you like some help… In what to say?”
She thought for a moment at his offer.
“No thanks. I want to try this by myself.”
Then she bowed her head. “ Oh Father, I know I have done wrong and followed a path I thought made sense. But the truth is, like in my dream, it is just fog. I cannot see where I am heading in the end and death is something that I could not bear thinking about. But you have showed me a different way, though I wished I could’ve found this way through another consequence. But either way, I suppose I’m here now. I’m your child. Your Lamb and I was so terribly lost. But I found a new hope. A light that shatters any darkness around me. Thank you for sending Jesus here to die for me. For me! To get rid of my sins. You send me the lifeline that pulled me out of the choking sea of darkness and into the light. You’ve pulled me into the truth and I have escaped the lie. So please here me now as I repent, I accept you as my Holy Father, I accept the Holy Spirit and I accept Jesus as my saviour. In Jesus name, Amen.” She lifted her head up. Her face was shining brightly and a tear stroked her. A new kind of tear, happiness. She looked towards Peter and could see his eyes welling up. “So how was that?” She asked him.
“I couldn’t have put it any better!” He exclaimed and embraced her happily. “May the Lord guide you always.”
The next couple of weeks went quickly and every night she was engrossed in the bible she had been able to dig up. She was relieved when the pressures of her exams were over and it was also then that she received her inheritance. It was sad, but she had actually put it off. After taxes she worked out she had roughly £10,000 but that was not enough. It wouldn’t go very far in the end and she knew she would have to start looking for a place soon. But decided it would be best to get a job once her results had arrived. Until then though, she had another matter pressing on her mind. She’d never had thought of it, but she was beginning to wonder who her real Father was. He had left her Mother soon after she was born and hoped that she would be able to find him. All she had of him was a name and a picture. But after some research had found out one thing. He worked at a computer company. Well more or less owned it. It was only small from what she knew but that didn’t matter. What did was that she could meet her real Father.
