The Truth Behind the Lie, an original story by Aurcara

As the man began to open the gate Relaya cautiously walked inside whilst Peter kept on talking the man. Slowly she made her way across to Peter’s car. It was hard to miss. The compound wasn’t necessarily big and there was only one that looked like his there. As she walked in deeper, alarm bells kept on ringing. But like a fly to a light she had to go in further. It was obvious something wasn’t quite right. But her legs insisted to move further, curiosity leading them.

“Wait up Ray!” Peter shouted behind her as he ran up to her. But she paused when he reached her. A dark object had reflected off of the car.

“What was that?” She whispered as her ears ‘pricked up’ and eyes widened looking around uncomfortably.

“What’s what?” Peter asked her naively. Beginning to look around, but only noticing ordinary shadows from streetlights and cars. “Relaya you’re imagining things.” He said as he unlocked the car. “C’mon it’s late enough as it is, we need to go.”

With one last look around she hopped inside. “Honestly Ray, you have got to stop believing in everything they tell you on TV. This place isn’t haunted.”

“I-I know I just get a strange vibe from.” The engine then began and they set off. But she still didn’t feel right; there was still a feeling in the air she could not shake off. Even though they were now out of the compound. The feeling was stronger now than ever… that was when she heard a rustle come from behind her… maybe it wasn’t the compound. Maybe…maybe it was closer than she had first anticipated.

She froze up. “Peter stop the car.” She muttered.

“What?”

“STOP THE CAR!” She screamed at him, he glanced over at her then swerved to a holt. She lunged for the door handle but someone behind held their hand over her mouth and pushed her head against the chair.

“GET OFF OF HER!” He yelled at the mysterious figure, but before he could grab the mans hand he noticed that the man had something in his hand. It was pointing at her. A gun. He froze. Relaya was breathing heavily, panicking.

“Get out of the car. But DO NOT leave the car” The man said calmly, as though he had done this all before. Peter looked at Relaya, who glanced back with frightened eyes. He obeyed. The man then let go of Relaya and got out of the car pulling her out, making her fall to the floor. Peter ran down to her and helped her up.

“Are you ok?” He whispered to her. She simply nodded. “WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU?” He shouted at the man.

He laughed. “Stupid boy! Have you not noticed that I am the one with the gun?” He slyly remarked waving the gun in the air before shooting it up to prove it was loaded.

Relaya looked up and Peter then looked back.

“What do you want with us?”

“Oh, why can’t someone just capture someone? Besides, I don’t think you should ask things like that now… do you?”
