As they sat under the bridge they heard a police siren approach. They looked at each.
“You know the only way we could get out of this. Is to go to the police and explain ourselves out. Sure they might not believe us. But what kind of druggie would turn in. Not many. We’ve got a better chance if we go.” Peter explained as they both headed up. They stopped by the road and the car slowed as it neared them.
“You look like the two we’re looking for.” The officer said. She’d seen them running away and as they were in the same clothes, which were in a good mess, it didn’t take a genius to put the pieces together.
“I think we are.” The two said in unison and willing moved towards the passenger door.
“Should we get in?” Peter asked watching the stunned face of the officer. She simply nodded; shocked she didn’t need to get out of the vehicle. Relaya and Peter slid in and explained everything as they headed towards the station.
Amazingly once they’d arrived they were only there for a short while. Soon they were back outside. Of course, maybe that wasn’t the best thing for them. They were free from the police… but now they’re just ‘grassed’ on some criminals. Dangerous criminals. They had gotten themselves into something more than they’d bargained for.
“Thank goodness we got out of that… I mean I never thought we could! Man oh man! THANK YOU FATHER!” Relaya babbled on, “I cannot believe it! Really I can’t! Such a simple prayer, then along came the police and BANG! I thought we were in for it! But nope. Nope God had another plan for us… I LOVE GOD!” She was on a roll.
Peter simply smiled and they kept on walking towards the car compound. He was thinking himself. Though not out loud like Relaya. Could she talk? Although the way she did all the time made him laugh. There was something about her that fascinated him. But he daren’t say anything. He was afraid he was just on the friends mark…and that’s all he’d ever be… ok on the pull your friend into any and every situation mark. But the friends mark all the same. He thought these ‘feelings’ would leave him. But they clung on and got stronger everyday… almost to his disappointment. But he also wanted them to grow. He couldn’t say anything though. Anyway to his friends she had insisted they were only friends. Maybe they were only meant to be just friends.
“Peter? Peter? PETER!” She yelled at him prodding his side.
He shook his head. “Huh? What sorry?”
She laughed and he looked at her blankly. “Oh my word, you’re a right old daydreamer aren’t you? What’s up with you lately?” She laughed again, before quickly nodding to the right of her. “We’re here.”
“Oh…” He bit his lip. “Ok let’s go in…”
They both headed up to the man by the gate. “Hi, I’m sorry but I believe you have my car.” He began to explain to the man the story. He always enjoyed details… maybe a bit too much sometimes.
Relaya looked around the place. It was an ordinary compound. But something wasn’t quite right. Maybe it was her. But she had shivers down her back. Sure it was dark, she tried to convince herself it was because of that. But there was something else about it. It wasn’t telling her something. The cars decorating it and lightly shining from the dim streetlights hid something. Maybe it was because it was open at an unusual time today? They aren’t usual supposed to be open so late. But there was something there. Something sinister maybe. But would it ever reveal itself?
